The South Carolina Nurse Retention Initiative (SCNRI) is the only scholarship that is dedicated to retaining top nursing talent in Beaufort and Jasper Counties. We are able to offer recent Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) grads (recent meaning within the last 12 months) – up to $12,000 (BSN grads) or $6,000 (ADN grads) over a 2 year period based on merit, dedication to the nursing profession, financial need, educational mobility and your desire to remain employed in primary medical care in Beaufort or Jasper County – including specific geographic areas where funding has been made available. We welcome nurse graduate applicants who represent the diversity of our community.
In 2023 we will be awarding scholarships which will pay BSN’s $12,000 and ADN’s $6,000 over a 2-year period.
With proof of continued employment in a Beaufort or Jasper County licensed healthcare facility along with verification of membership in a nationally recognized nursing organization a taxable stipend of $3,000 (BSN) or $1,500 (ADN) will be paid semi- annually.
These stipends are considered taxable income, however, because they are awards, they are not subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes.
Scholarship recipients will be announced within 30 days after the enrollment period ends and recipients will be notified by letter. Payments will begin approximately six months from the date of formal notification that you are a recipient of the award. Payments are made on September 1 and March 1.
