How much money is available to recipients?

In 2025 we will be awarding scholarships which will pay BSN’s $9,000 and ADN’s $6,000 over a 2-year period.

With proof of continued employment in a Beaufort, Jasper or Hampton county licensed healthcare facility along with verification of membership in a nationally recognized nursing organization a taxable stipend of $2,250 (BSN) or $1,500 (ADN) will be paid semi- annually.

These stipends are considered taxable income, however, because they are awards, they are not subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes.

When will the scholarship be awarded?

Scholarship recipients will be announced within 30 days after the enrollment period ends and recipients will be notified by letter. Payments will begin approximately six months from the date of formal notification that you are a recipient of the award. Payments are made twice annually.

Are there any restrictions on how I can use the money?

No. You can use it for childcare, education, debt, transportation, housing etc.

What if I can’t commit to the full 2 years, I leave the area or I change jobs?

You can change employment within the geographic area and will remain in the program. If you leave the area you are required to advise us, and future payments simply stop.

Who chooses the recipients?

A Selection Committee has been appointed by the SCNRI Fund and includes a diverse representation from nursing, human resources, and executive management. Committee decisions are final.
